Position Summary

The Director, Continuous Improvement will serve as the primary resource for all CI efforts across the Bloomington Biologics manufacturing site. The successful candidate will serve as a change agent, driving efficiencies of production by defining, developing and implementing a Kaizen like approach throughout the manufacturing process.

By focusing on CI, this role will contribute to Catalent’s Patient First philosophy by driving the site to increase capacity and continue to meet the growing needs of clients and patients with the highest quality drugs in a timely manner.

The Role

  • Create a culture of continuous improvement to include all levels

  • Plan, lead and facilitate project teams by:

  • Offering recommendations for and driving significant and sustainable improvements

  • Provide training and leadership to ensure site wide understanding and ongoing participation in site with CI initiatives

  • Solicit feedback from line employees to gain perspective, ideas and input offering opportunities for participation and continued growth

  • Utilize Kaizen events to drive ongoing improvements in capacity and overall efficiency

  • Work with Line Operators and Site Leaders to increase capacity and consistently meet organizational goals

  • Manage the weekly Biologics SQDC (Safety Quality Delivery and Cost) initiatives:

  • Develops data collection systems and performance reporting

  • Prepare and deliver complex presentations to ensure adequate understanding, resources and support for ongoing and future CI projects

  • Coach and support employees and leaders promoting a consistent focus on identification of opportunities for Continuous Improvement initiatives site wide

  • Serve as part of the Bloomington site’s Senior Leadership team and providing awareness and support for ongoing and future CI activities

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree; Advanced degree (MS or MBA) preferred

  • Previous leadership experience within a high throughput manufacturing environment

  • 5+ years of driving Kaizen (or similar lean business tool) projects to attain increased productivity and overall efficiency

  • Strong understanding of financial and business concepts

  • Experience with Lean manufacturing systems such as the Toyota system preferred.

  • Experience working to regulatory standards: FDA, Good Engineering Practice (GEP), Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and Good Documentation Procedures is preferred but not required
