MPG Product Dev Engineer III in Bluffton, Indiana
Plans, schedules and coordinates complex and difficult engineering assignments where only generally stated objectives for the project or project phases are available. Responsible for the integration of process design and product development engineering.
Serves as direct technical representative or engineering liaison between the customer and Metaldyne. High degree of customer interface.
Requires active involvement as engineering program / project manager.
Interprets customer needs into a low cost, manufacturable design solution in conjunction with Metaldyne engineering staff and suppliers.
Oversees prototype management and meets customer delivery and documentation requirements.
Coordinates new product launches and provides subsequent support.
Maintains regular customer contact to include teaching technical concepts, communications, presentations, solicitation of new business, and developing allegiances.
Estimates manpower needs and schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specification.
Provides technical direction and training to other professionals and technicians.
Reviews progress and evaluates results; makes changes in methods, design or equipment where necessary; devises new approaches to problems encountered.
Maintains regular contact with manufacturing operations and supports DFA/DFM activities.
Ensures timely completion of designs, models prints, etc.
Manages and coordinates cost reduction activities with customer.
Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related field (advanced degree preferable).
6 – 9 years experience in related engineering discipline, project management, or direct customer support experience.
Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes, engineering materials, casting and forging processes.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of design and development experience dealing with base engine / transmission components.
Experience with 3D design software.
Excellent written and oral communications skills, strong presentation, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
Must be able to work as a team player as well as a self-starter to get job done.
Working knowledge of TS-16949, SPC, GD&T and automotive manufacturing requirements.
Must have good problem soling skills ( Six Sigma, Shanin, etc … )
Exceptional computer (MS Office and MS Project) skills.
Good program / project management skills.
Good analytical skills.
A strong modeling and/or tool design background a plus
