Job Description

The Senior Project Manager will provide project management for large size projects, sometimes concurrently. These projects will be of high visibility and importance as they align with the company’s Key Plan items.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate Project Portfolio information to Department and Sr. Management

  • Explore and study new tools and practices for Project Management Methodology

  • Create new approaches (framework) for Project Management as situations demand

  • Manage Scope, Schedule and Resources for large project life cycles related to Departmental initiatives within Allied Solutions, including:

  • Developing and presenting recommendations to project Sponsors

  • Working with Business Analysts assigned to projects

  • Project Planning, Scheduling, and may assist in Cost Control

  • Maintaining, upgrading and training PMO on Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Program

  • Managing deliverables and team member expectations

  • Identifying and escalating issues in a timely manner

  • Communicating project status to the PMO, Sr. Management and other Stakeholders

  • Preparing project documentation files

  • Mentor and provide guidance to other project management team members

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: (Education, Experience and Certifications)

  • 4 year degree from an accredited institution required

  • 8+ years of project management experience required

  • PMP Certification required

  • Experience with desktop (e.g. Microsoft Project) Project Management Applications required

  • Experience with web based (e.g. Smartsheet) Project Management Applications preferred

KNOWLEDGE, Skills And Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Project Management Methodology and its application

  • Ability to adjust approach based on Project status/progress

  • Provide leadership for team members at various levels of the organization

  • Strong communication skills: oral, interpersonal, and listening

  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Mentor Project Managers on hard and soft skills associated with Project Management

  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements to improve quality, efficiency, and reduce cost

  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams

  • Ability to handle multiple complex tasks

  • Ability to prepare professional correspondence

  • Ability to effectively and professionally present information in one-on-one, small and large group situations to customers, clients, employees and other business partners at various levels of the organization required

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills required

  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, MS Project and Visio required

  • Ability to deal with problems involving variables in a variety of situations

  • Ability to learn quickly

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Adaptable, flexible, patient and professional even under tense situations

Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Demands:

  • Typically, an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

  • Work assignments are diversified. Interpret, comprehend and apply complex material, data and instruction – prepare, provide and convey diversified information.

  • Minimal physical effort required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically with less than 10 lbs. (e.g., papers, books, files and small parts, etc.). Moderate dexterity – regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination.
