Aerotek Production Engineer in Columbus, Indiana
Description:
In the Columbus facility, our client is are manufacturing custom machinery for their customers. This is an OEM plant where the entire assembly process of the product is completed. They also do their own manufacturing of individual components for their product. This plant has several different department to support the build of the client's product. The includes a welding area, CNC and Manual machining, paint, and automated assembly.
The candidates hired for this role will split their time between project management responsibilities and hands on troubleshooting of the equipment. From a project standpoint, they will be responsible for a specific project assigned to them where they may have to work with vendors/suppliers, manage new launch activity, perform machine builds/installation, downtime reduction, etc. When issues arise at the plant that neither Maintenance or Quality teams can support the PE group will assist in troubleshooting or repairing the equipment/processes. It will be about 60% on the floor supporting production and 40% working with suppliers and documentation around specifications for design, new machines, and equipment . This position will spend time in the assembly department at first understanding the processes, then work some in the welding area. They want people to get the full scope of their process during their time on contract.
When supporting their projects the candidates will do design for manufacturing work. This includes tooling, fixtures, machines, etc to support the projects they are working on using CATIA
MUST HAVES:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering , BSEET/BSMET preferred.
Project Management experience- Must be able to walk through projects they have helped manage or supported during these
Mechanical Aptitude - Must have interests outside of coursework and professional that demonstrate the person is hands-on problem solver (ex. Farm work, automotive work, school club involvement, etc.)
Manufacturing Experience- Internship or professional work in either a machining, welding, automated assembly environment.
Troubleshooting Equipment Experience -- either machinery or PLC programming that is connected to project management.
