SAIC Environmental Analyst in CRANE, Indiana
This position will support the hazardous waste and explosive hazardous waste programs for the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division Environmental Protection Office located at Naval Support Activity (NSA) Crane. The candidate will perform environmental analysis, typically in assessing, analyzing, researching and ensuring environmental policy compliance with pertinent Federal, state and local environmental regulations, which may include CERCLA, CAA, and RCRA.
Tasking includes explosive hazardous waste and hazardous waste compliance support, which may include compliance with federal, state, and Department of Defense (DoD) environmental regulations. Candidate will also review standard operating procedures (SOPs), conduct internal waste inspections, review and evaluate hazardous waste operations and shipping documents for compliance with regulatory requirements, review and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the customer’s environmental compliance programs, and preparation of permits (i.e., applications, modifications, renewals).
Other tasking includes research and assessment of data; develop or prepare reports, surveys, descriptive charts, figures or matrices for compliance and specific application of these items. May include permitting procedures for projects. Frequent use and application of industry practices, techniques, and standards.
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, or otherrelated technical field and 3 years of related experience.
Knowledge of hazardous waste rulesand regulations as it relates to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act(RCRA) statute.
Must possess good oral and written communications skillsand be familiar with PC Microsoft applications. Position requires goodorganizational skills and attention to detail.
Must be able to work in a busy environment and meet shortsuspense actions from the Government customer.
Must be able to wear a respirator provided by SAIC if necessary at a later date, for continued employment.
Knowledge and experience to be able to handle unusual and seldom occurring job events with minimal assistance and interact with regulatory agencies and DoD inspection community (Interaction normally involves exceptional presentation of factual information through participation in meetings, inspections and telephone conferences). Position will also require support with internal SAIC local operations and facilities.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
Experience in RCRA permitting or any other environmental permitting.
Knowledge of the Military Munitions Rule and Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) within DOD Instruction 4140.62.
Previous experience with other environmental programs (i.e., NEPA, CWA, CAA, SPCC) w
Previous experience with Department of Defense and/or Department of Navy activities or OPNAVINST 5090 series.
