JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The individual must be forward thinking, raise the bar and expectations of the engineering department. This role is responsible for tying together multiple product lines across multiple divisions. They should be able to lead their team to accomplish challenging goals by effective leadership strategies. This individual must be passionate, hardworking and have a sense of urgency for all projects.

This position will be responsible for establishing these values in the team and basic engineering structure, procedure and policies in internal and external areas of engineering. As well as working with other groups to accomplish the goals of the company and meeting expectations of the customers.

Essential Functions

  • Design, development and evaluation of product modifications to fit customer’s applications as well as design improvement and cost reduction efforts on existing products having significant impact on the company's operations.

  • Provides design concept, development timetables for team review and approval.

  • Preparation of drawings and production of prototypes meeting the standards set by sound engineering principles, project goals and company needs. Establishes, audits and reviews test programs necessary to produce project results in line with goals.

  • Collaborates with customer regarding design, timelines and delivery.

  • Travel to customer

  • Works with Manufacturing Engineering to assure most efficient methods of manufacture and assembly within appropriate codes or regulations.

  • Finalizes all engineering documentation necessary for product release.

  • Assists in the testing lab development of test set up to ensure a successful product qualification.

  • Assists manufacturing with implementation into production including suggested parameters for tests of production units and preparation of final design revisions as may be required.

  • Assist in establishing and/or upgrading internal engineering standards and practices (i.e. FMEA, product specifications, engineering specifications, etc.)

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility upon hiring, however, potential direct reports are a possibility.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The team member may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are decided by the hiring manager. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as needed.

Travel

Some travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  • BS Mechanical Engineering, professional engineering certification or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 3 years in design and development recommended; i.e., in a specific field such as hydraulics and/or mechanical with a basic understanding of electronics.

  • Must be capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments.

  • Must be able to build relationships with customers and suppliers.

  • Must be an effective communicator with all levels of personnel.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in use of CAD software. Solidworks preferred.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to pass EVerify.
