General Purpose of Job
As the Consumer Insights Consultant, you will serve as a subject matter expert and will be responsible for educating internal partners on important consumer trends and show the value of consumer data on all phases of business growth and strategy, including anticipating business opportunities and forecasting key trends, improving market performance, informing product development, and aiding marketing, sales, and customer engagement efforts.
In this role, you will…
Design and manage quantitative and qualitative research on consumers and customers in support of Lincoln’s Group Protection and Retirement Plan Services businesses
Support initiatives focused on measuring and improving customers’ experiences
Analyze and synthesize industry data to provide a thorough understanding of consumer needs and behaviors
Transform data into compelling visuals to tell a story and support audience understanding of key research insights.
Present research findings and lead conversations within Lincoln’s Group Protection and Retirement Plan Services businesses, focusing on how insights can be used to inform strategy and drive action
Influence & Execution:
Synthesizes data, interprets findings, and communicates key learnings clearly and concisely to share insights with business stakeholders
Develops presentations and delivers research findings to project teams and senior management
Uses knowledge of consumers, customers, competitors, and the marketplace to advise stakeholders on business issues
Synthesizes proprietary research findings and third-party data to develop recommendations for strategic action
Serves as a subject matter expert on cross-functional project teams, leveraging research to present solutions and recommendations to drive business results
Acts as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, designing and leveraging research to help answer key questions to support business goals and initiatives
Works with cross-functional teams to identify research questions, and designs and manages qualitative and quantitative research efforts to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders, collaborating with stakeholders throughout the process
Oversees projects with external research vendors, acting as a liaison between Lincoln stakeholders and research vendors, ensuring timely delivery of project deliverables, and working collaboratively with research vendors and Lincoln stakeholders to identify meaningful insights and opportunities for strategic action
Meets regularly with stakeholders (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Strategy, Product, Operations, Innovation, and Customer Experience and others) to maintain a strong understanding of the strategic challenges, and shares relevant insights and consumer trends
Effectively communicates insights to the right audiences at the right time, tailoring the content to be relevant to each audience, and encouraging conversations and strategic actions based on research findings
Consumer Insights / Research Skills:
Explores multifaceted methodology options, leveraging qualitative and quantitative research, syndicated research, and secondary data to build actionable consumer insights
Pursues innovative and cost-effective solutions to inform business plans, product design, consumer experiences and marketing programs
Analyzes and synthesizes consumer data to provide an understanding of consumer needs, attitudes, behaviors, financial service decision- making and product preferences
Designs and directs research plans from Request-For-Proposal (RFP) to final report and presentation
Designs and applies thorough testing and quality controls throughout all project phases for assigned area(s) of responsibility
Builds expertise on various sources of internal/external consumer information and data sources, especially pertaining to elements and characteristics relevant to consumer attitudes, behavior, financial decision-making and product preferences
Undergraduate degree, preferably with academic coursework or experience in qualitative or quantitative research experience or 5+ years of comparable work experience required
3-5+ years of experience in market research, financial services, workplace benefits, and/or marketing/communications
Understanding of insurance, workplace benefits, retirement and financial services preferred.
Experience using online survey tools like Qualtrics preferred.
Experience using tools like Excel, SPSS, SAS, R, or Tableau for data analysis preferred.

A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
