The Global Controls Program Management Leader is responsible for establishing the global controls Program Management Office (PMO) for the controls business with a divers product portfolio covering residential, commercial, transportation, and industrial segments. The PMO lead is accountable for the implementation and execution of standard methodologies in support of Carrier Fire & Security Global Program Management including tailoring / developing controls specific procedures and work products. The controls programs will be focused on delivering new product development / Introductions as well as key strategic initiatives to stage advanced technology and innovation. Many of the programs include agency certifications / compliance requirements due to the life safety nature of the devices. Program management (PM) is responsible for the execution plan including technical, quality, schedule, and budget aspects. Communication of the controls program status including the use of PM applications and tracking tools. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Establish Program Management roles and responsibilities, competencies, and expectations.

  • Develop and implement common tools, processes, and standard methodologies across the global controls program management activities.

  • Lead Program Management resources (may consist of direct/matrixed team of program management resources supporting the different controls business segments).

  • Drive execution and performance measurement of the stage gate review process to ensure targets for program features, product cost, schedule, and budget are attained.

  • Mentor program managers within the global controls business to drive improvement of the business’s delivery of programs measurable through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as on time delivery.

  • Establish organizational communication through dashboards, the program management newsletter and recurring portfolio reviews with the executive leadership.

Key Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience with project management, performance measurement and tracking methods and tools.

  • Expert experience with Microsoft Project, and other industry leading tools highly preferred.

  • 5+ years of personal Program Management experience in a product development environment executing strategic roadmaps and project portfolios with new product development, resource planning, and budgeting.

  • 3+ years of experience with talent management, training, mentoring and development preferred.

  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills and ability to work across organizational functions including Engineering, Quality and Operations.

  • Strong facilitation, team building, collaboration, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to prepare and deliver key program metrics and internal/external presentations

  • Proficiency in MS Office including very strong PowerPoint skills.

  • Extensive experience leading projects, working with design, quality, sourcing, and factory teams to launch products in factories.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP and PgMP certification

  • Technical degree (Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science) with product development experience.

  • Experience with global standards and certification or experience with product development in a highly regulated environment.

  • MBA or similar financial acumen

  • Agile development methodology.
