Hematology Technical Coordinator

Lutheran Hospital is looking for a Hematology Technical Coordinator for our Laboratory who will work in conjunction with the general laboratory supervisor to oversee the laboratory in his/her absence to assure the focus and commitment to meeting the goals and mission of the department.

Duties for the Hematology Technical Coordinator include:

  • Coordination of technical operations in assigned area including

  • Pre-analytical

  • Analytical

  • Post-analytical phases

  • QA monitoring and documentation of all laboratory processes and testing of patient specimens

  • Patient testing

  • Evaluation new assays and or equipment

  • Successful proficiency challenges

  • Training and competency assessment of laboratory staff in technical operations

  • Monitoring staff participation in QA programs

Licensure/Experience/Education/Registration/Certification :

Minimum requirements are consistent with CLIA regulatory requirements.

Experience : Minimum 3-5 years recent clinical laboratory experience with progressively more responsibility in a specified department or area of the laboratory operations.

Job Knowledge & Skills :

Requires in-depth knowledge of laboratory testing, reporting procedures, specimen collection and processing, in addition to the operation and maintenance of related equipment in order to perform a variety of analytical tests on patient specimens and general knowledge of regulations impacting laboratory technology.

Requires general working knowledge of the normal growth, development, related behaviors, needs, and comfort appropriate to the age (including neonate, child, adolescent, aging adult) and diagnosis of patient served to support the provision of an individualized multidisciplinary plan of care.

Requires leadership, group cohesion , and communication skills promoting teamwork and group achievement.

Requires strong analytical and organizational skills in order to conduct a variety of in-depth laboratory tests on patient specimens, maintain related documentation, monitor activities of staff and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Requires a good understanding of the role of the laboratory in providing excellent patient care. Understands the responsibility of the laboratory to provide accurate and timely information to assist in positive patient outcomes. Understands the importance of maintaining working relationships with other staff members in the laboratory and the hospital.

Demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with all internal and external unit customers, as needed.

Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, both verbal and written
