Lippert Components, Inc VA/VE Engineer in Goshen, Indiana

The VA/VE Engineer is responsible for implementing engineering cost out efforts as it relates to key cost drivers due to design, technology, materials, processes, suppliers and transactional inefficiencies. The candidate will report directly to the Director of Engineering, collaborate with design/purchasing and shop/assembly teams on design projects. Essential Functions

  • Lead, guide, and support engineering cost out work as it relates to design, technology, materials, processes, suppliers and transactional efficiency as controlled by engineering drawings, specifications and standards and process documentation.

  • Provide engineering costs and/or schedule estimates in support of cost benefit analysis

  • Participate in supplier development activities specifically to review supplier innovation suggestions and/or opportunities.

  • Review, create and/or modify component details/assembly drawings/documents and/or CAD models to maintain design configuration control.

Supervisory Responsibility

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time salary position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and your reporting manager.

Travel

Travel will be moderate. Could require some overnight travel and this teammate may need to visit vendors or other plants outside the area.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution in any of these areas: mechanical, materials, electrical, electronics, hydraulic/fluid, manufacturing, computer science, software, aerospace, or systems engineering.

  • 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design

Preferred Education and Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks (preferred) or equal 3D CAD software

  • Extensive knowledge of product design principles

  • Knowledge of multiple materials a Plus

  • Understanding of 3D CAD surfacing.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to pass EVerify.
