United Technologies Electronic Controls (UTEC) designs, develops, and manufactures control and control panel solutions for the HVAC, refrigeration, and related markets. Globally. UTEC is seeking a Control Panel Engineer to be based in Huntington, IN.

The available opportunity is a critical and comprehensive role within the control panel engineering group. UTEC is a fast-paced and growing business. We are looking for a self-directed contributor and team player to help us achieve and exceed product and business growth targets while driving improved quality and customer satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as a member of a design team to develop electrical panels for the HVACR industry from concept through production

  • Understanding of the proper selection, application, and calculation of power electronics and electromechanical devices. These devices would include: Mold Case Circuit Breakers, Control Transformers, Fuses, Contactors, etc.

  • Utilization of AutoCad as well as Microsoft Office to complete design level documentation; Documentation will include harness drawings, bill-of-material creation, and assistance in the creation of enclosure and assembly drawings

  • Utilization of both power and hand tools for prototype and proof of concept building

  • Support of sustaining products including quality improvements, cost reductions, component obsolescence, and failure analysis

  • Evaluation and approval of components to meet requirements for availability, performance, and cost

  • Evaluation of failures to determine root cause and corrective actions

  • Travel to customer sites to support pre-production builds and meetings

Qualification:

  • Experience using AutoCAD is preferred

  • Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot electrical schematics is beneficial

  • Familiarity with electromechanical devices (motors, breakers, relays, etc) beneficial

  • Familiarity with Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning systems highly desirable

  • Familiarity with UL1995, UL60335, UL508a, and NFPA 70 preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree EE/EET with 0-4+ years experience
