Leads analytical problem solving to develop corrective actions within manufacturing both quality and design related. Represents and promotes technological specialty within the transformer offer. Serves as a technical expert and leader in problem resolution supporting Manufacturing Operations within Huntington, IN facility.What do you get to do in this position? Leads analysis and resolution of manufacturing / customer-based concerns from a technical engineering support perspective while interfacing with Line of Business engineering and keeping them abreast of issues at hand.Evaluates and validates design changes, new part introductions, part conformance to stated design requirements (FAIRs - First Article Inspection Reports), makes decisions on conformity of parts, and facilitates deviations which are then approved by the Line of Business engineering. Oversees Application Notices for manufacturing facility.Serves as "link," between Line of Business and Manufacturing engineering. Involved in Pilot production runs providing feedback to Project team to ensure maintenance of engineering records are accurate.Leads team in problem "root cause," determination via testing, part and assembly analysis, and 8D problem solving methodologies.Acts as a technical consultant on engineering specialty for anyone who needs the service (i.e. other internal locations, product support, and customer questions), suggests corrective actions to the related continuous engineering group as well as manufacturing design robustnessIndividual will be an effective "hands on," engineer who is very capable of going to the manufacturing floor, understanding the process, leading teams to find root causes of issues, and leading teams to implement necessary changes to design, tool, and / or process.Remains abreast of the latest developments in engineering specialty primarily from an electrical product, code, and technology standpoint. Drives planning for surveillance testing on products on annual basis.Supports Line of Business engineers (as required) on safety-based investigationsWork closely with certification engineers to ensure compliancy to product standards (i.e. UL and CSA). This includes certification files, audits and/or managing labels.Qualifications We know skills and competencies show up in many ways and can be based on your life experience. If you do not necessarily meet all the requirements that are listed, we still encourage you to apply for the position.This job might be for you if: BSME or BSEE of four-year technical degreeMinimum 3 to 5 years' experience with product development exposureExperience with 8D problem solving methodology (eg. 5 Whys, Ishikawa diagram), Six Sigma preferredExcellent skills in leadership, communication both verbal and written, and attention to detailKnowledgeable of regulatory codes, standards, and industry standardsCapable of planning and scheduling product and / or lab testing exercisesStrong desire to work with people on the manufacturing floor and customer interface.
