Medical Development Information Technology (MD IT) serves a strategic function within Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL). The MD IT team defines and influences LRL information strategies and develops solutions to enable the realization of LRL business goals. The MD-IT Information Hub is a collection of data repositories containing clinical trial operational and results data. It also includes an information exchange platform that is used to provide rapid access to information in support of business processes across the Medicines Development Unit. The team employs an array of technologies to support many different business needs including AWS, Java, Microsoft C#, Oracle, Informatica, and OpenShift. The role of execution lead is to handle small to medium-size projects on MD IT initiatives designed to reach desired business outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Applying MD IT strategies to LRL information systems and processes.

  • Translating/implementing technical design from business requirements.

  • Performing impact analysis across applications.

  • Leading expectations with business partners and software vendors for project work.

  • Analyzing future project scope and cost and assisting the business in defining the value statement.

  • Consulting with testers and developers to creatively brainstorm and right-size effective solutions.

  • Providing leadership for successful execution of small to medium-scale projects with moderate risks and resource/financial requirements.

Business Analyst

  • Engages with business and dedicatedly seeks opportunities for IT to deliver business value.

  • Uses systematic and documentation approaches, investigates business requirements, identifies and analyzes multiple solution alternatives and proposes one alternative based on comparative cost benefit analysis.

Project Manager

  • Accountable for creation and maintenance of a project charter.

  • Builds and maintains an integrated project schedule or agile scrum board.

  • Analyze and communicate project status to multiple audiences, including all levels of management.

  • Provide direction, support, and leadership to project teams to ensure on-time project delivery.

  • Facilitates status meetings and issues management.

  • Evaluate existing and potential MD IT portfolio items to assure alignment with LRL business priorities; gain support on execution of MD IT projects in collaboration with vendors, business partners, team and management to drive this alignment.

Technical Integrator

  • Anticipate, understand, and communicate the implications of technical decisions on the business, applications, and project timelines and gain support for decisions accordingly.

  • Analyze and seek complex technical problems using multiple technologies and advanced data analysis methods.

  • Seek opportunities to reuse existing processes and services to streamline support and implementation of key systems.

  • Exploit internal and external professional relationships to enhance probability of successful outcomes.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Demonstrated experience leading data and/or software integration projects from the perspective of technical oversight, project management, status reporting, and/or issue identification/resolution.

  • Experience working with and managing vendors to deliver data integration solutions.

  • Proficiency with RDBMS technologies and basic understanding of SOA technologies.

  • Experience with requirements management, test management, and issue management for effective IT project delivery.

  • Familiarity with software quality assurance methods and techniques.

  • Experience working with individuals across organization boundaries and leading the development of IT strategy within a business area.

  • Understanding of relevant industry standards; e.g. CDISC.

  • Experience with and/or knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.

  • Broad and deep technology learning agility.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with cutting-edge data integration technologies.

  • Ability to gain support from peers and achieve results through others.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Previous Pharmaceutical R&D IT experience.
