Bell Techlogix Associate Engineer (2nd or 3rd shift) in INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana

Must be able to work overnights/weekends.

2nd shift/3rd shift preferred, 1 weekend day

Summary: An Associate Systems Engineer’s role is to ensure availability, performance and security of the IT infrastructure.

Essential Functions:

  • Event and alert management stemming from server and network infrastructure.

  • Take direction to solve complex problems regarding client issues and other tasks as assigned.

  • Understanding the scope and timelines of new projects in order to meet the completion deadlines.

  • Interface with all levels of employees internally and within client businesses to support program requirements (business owners, project managers, customer employees, and executive management).

  • Write technical procedural documentation for co-workers and for delegated tasks.

  • Manage workflow of infrastructure tasks, automated events, and manager requests to ensure customer service level and KPI compliance.

  • Maintain required certification levels to meet departmental needs.

Abilities and Skills:

  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands and tasks, and successfully manage multiple engagements that may require additional resources.

  • Attention to detail and thoroughness.

  • Ability to analyze complex business systems and proprietary application configurations, document the configurations and processes, and support them as needed.

  • Self-reliant and directed as there may be little to no daily supervision.

Required Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • High School diploma required

  • Associate degree in Computer Science preferred or a minimum of 2 years support experience in computer & network system environments.

  • Experience and ability to convey understanding with the following:

  • Server hardware and managing physical servers and appliances in a data center environment

  • Providing process improvement recommendations and documentation

  • Industry best practice knowledge and experience with systems, network, and security troubleshooting.

Experience with the following is preferred:

  • Advanced understanding of Active Directory

  • Layer 2/3 networking

  • Wireless networking

  • Windows Server 2003 – 2016

  • Patch Management

  • Backup technologies (Veeam, Backup Exec, Asigra, etc.)

  • Exchange 2010 – 2016, Office 365

  • Enterprise antivirus software (McAfee, Sophos, Symantec, etc.)

  • Monitoring technologies (SolarWinds, Nagios, What’s Up Gold, etc.)

  • Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies (Dell EqualLogic/Compellent, HP, IBM, NetApp, etc.)

  • Cloud Platforms (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, etc.)

  • Virtualization technologies

  • VMware administration (VMware vSphere 5.x – 6.x, VMware View)

  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies

  • High Availability (HA) methodologies & technologies

  • Infrastructure security technologies

  • Windows Failover Cluster

  • PowerShell scripting and automation

  • SharePoint 2010 – 2016, SharePoint Online

  • Barracuda appliances

  • SCVMM \ Hyper-V

  • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)

  • Citrix applications (XenApp, XenDesktop, XenServer, Program Neighborhood)

  • Citrix NetScaler

  • Windows IIS

  • Linux (Red Hat Releases 2-7; CentOS)

  • Unix and/or HP-UX

Physical, Mental Requirements and Work Environment:

  • View computer monitor for an extended period of time

  • Sitting for long periods.

  • Listening and talking.

  • Requires high finger dexterity.

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

  • On-call and schedule flexing as needed to meet Bell internal and client needs.
