These discoveries start in Lilly Research Laboratories, where our scientists work to create new medicines that will help solve our worlds greatest health challenges.Purpose of Job:Responsible for executing the Translational Medicine (TM) strategy for the late phase oncology pipeline programs at the asset level. Main TM goals are to improve clinical outcomes, to inform on RandD pipeline decisions, and to accelerate the translation of scientific knowledge in clinical development, thus maximizing the return on investment.The Biomarker Leader will bring deep scientific experience with emphasis on Oncology biomarkers, in depth knowledge of clinical development, and expertise in matrix-based management. The biomarker lead will integrate translational research and clinical development, and will be responsible for the design, delivery, and execution of biomarkers in late stage clinical programs.Responsibilities: Represent translational medicine on global product teamsResponsible for integrating translational medicine in clinical development, and for the development of a biomarker strategy in alignment with clinical development objectives, leading the effort for data generation, interpretation and communication to the development team.Lead data analysis, engaging in critical thinking, to deliver key data generation and interpretation essential for decision making.Collaborate with functional teams (pathology, genomics, bioanalytical assays, etc) to develop and implement biomarker strategies in support of clinical programs, and to ensure strategic alignment of resources needed for timely and impactful delivery of biomarker goals.Collaborate with companion diagnostics development and commercial to provide asset supportResponsible for understanding the external research environment, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and manage the execution of translational medicine deliverables.Collaborate with Medical Affairs and PTs to inform on TM strategy for Investigator Initiated TrialsCollaborate with clinical development teams ensuring clinical protocols include appropriate target engagement, pharmacodynamics and patient stratification/selection biomarker endpoints, in alignment with clinical operational plansPeople:Responsible for creating an environment of collaboration, inclusion, and mutual respect within the team and across the functions to achieve team objectives.Builds productive relationships with development team members and matrix functions.Contribute to the development of others by being an active coach and mentor within and outside of the team.Actively manages relationships with external business partners and vendors to ensure a positive and productive working environment in accordance with the terms of the contractual agreements.Basic Qualifications:MD, PhD, or PharmD is requiredMinimum of 2 years of Biomarker Lead or clinical development experience in Oncology is required.Additional Skills/Preferences:Significant understanding of the role of translational medicine and clinical biomarkers in drug developmentDemonstrated knowledge of oncology disease biology.Additional Information:Day shiftLocation: Indianapolis, IN., New York or potential for remote work.Travel: Potential for domestic and internati
