JOB SUMMARY

At IMG, we refer to the Build Engineer as a DevOps Engineer.

Work closely with teams across IT and the business to continually improve delivery of software solutions and overall system quality as a vehicle to deliver overall higher quality IT. Improve process, practice, and tools in support of infrastructure development, software development and delivery (CI/CD) and automation to improve IT services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage existing CI & CD tools and pipeline as a partner to development teams

  • Responsible for all software deployments, both automated and manual

  • Document, design, and re-design various processes to continually improve service to the organization

  • Responsible for actively monitoring systems for potential problems and working with development staff to debug

  • Create and maintain configuration standards for software and infrastructure

  • Serve as a critical voice enabling quality practices throughout IT

  • Work in conjunction with the AppDev Manager and Architects to develop and socialize operational standards for teams throughout IT

  • Act as a critical part of a multi-team effort to deliver, manage, and maintain configuration automation to meet business needs

  • Accountable for the quality development of enabling automation, application development, infrastructure development, and overall IT service improvement

  • Provide training, as necessary, to other staff for relevant duties

  • Play a central role in re-imagining processes to improve IT services

  • Serve as a thought leader and partner with security, compliance, architecture, and development teams

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities through software development, guiding vendor and product selection and developing standards

  • Monitor technology and organizational trends in IaC, CI / CD, DevOps and DevSecOps to mature and continually improve the company’s IT services

  • Ability to make timely recommendations to effectively solve problems, using independent judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and/or law

  • Professionally exercises discretion and independent judgment in day-to-day work

  • Serve as an advocate for quality practices including the development of automation, including testing to improve business processes

  • Complete all other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to meet the criteria to be approved for and maintain an MBI security clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and at least 1-3 years of specific experience within any of the following: software design or development, infrastructure design or development, or equivalent experience

  • Willing to accept a minimum of 5-8 years relevant work experience as a Software Developer and/or in DevOps in lieu of educational requirements

  • Demonstrated experience installing, operating, and troubleshooting a variety of technologies, both open source and enterprise

  • Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases

  • Strong experience using source control along with implementing various branching strategies

  • Practical experience developing software or meeting operational needs with code and script (JavaScript, PowerShell, Python, Perl, Ruby, .NET, or Java)

  • Experience working and configuring web servers (IIS, Apache, Nginx, etc.)

  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service

  • Knowledge of CI and CD practices and supporting tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Bamboo, Team City, or similar)

  • Experience with automation/configuration management using tools like Azure DevOps, Puppet, Chef, or equivalents

  • Experience working with various monitoring tools, such as NewRelic, SolarWinds, or equivalents

  • Demonstrated experience in documenting, designing, and re-designing processes in an enterprise environment

  • Ability to communicate technically as well as non-technically across various levels of business

  • Experience in a highly regulated environment with demonstrated success working with internal and external compliance partners

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Direct experience using Azure DevOps

  • Experience with software quality principles and associated tools for testing and analysis

  • Experience with automation in dynamic environments such as IaaS and PaaS (on premises, hosted, and hybrid)

  • Experience with programmable infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code tools and principles

  • Experience with manual and automated testing and quality practices
