CDM Smith CADD Designer-Transportation in Indianapolis, Indiana
-With limited direction from the Engineer will design in both 2D and 3D.
-Create transportation (roadway and structural) design plans and details.
-Create horizontal roadway alignments.
-Create vertical roadway profiles.
-Create roadway cross sections and typical sections.
-Edit transportation design plans.
-Perform quantity takeoffs.
-Develop project exhibits.
-Perform routine checking and/or verification tasks. including review of junior staff documents to ensure adherence to company standards and procedures.
-Navigate multiple ProjectWise data sources and ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
-Support related CADD/technical tasks such as plotting drawings, preparing transmittals, preparing overnight packages, updating computer lists, updating software version and/or client workspace, filing prints, distributing drawings, making simple calculations, proofreading reports, etc.
-Keep up to date on changes and advancements in design technology and related software platforms.
-Train and mentor Junior Designers and Engineers in design technology and related software platforms.
-Support field assignments as required.
CDM Smith Employment Type:
-High School diploma or equivalent with vocational technical training in basic CADD drafting technology and/or 3D drafting.
-6+ years of related experience.
-Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
-Experience in the geometric layout and design of major/minor roadways.
-Advanced knowledge of Bentley Microstation.
-1+ year(s) of continuous 3D technologies experience in a Bentley MicroStation production environment.
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
-Previous CADD experience on INDOT projects.
-Expert-level skills/knowledge of Microstation and its 3D design/modeling packages (GEOPAK SS4 or OpenRoads).
-Proficiency with modeling/rendering software such as ConceptStation, 3D Max, InfraWorks, Lumion, and/or Navisworks.
-Proficiency with AutoDesk Civil 3D.
