The Consultant – Corporate Content will play a leading role in creating compelling content and managing the editorial strategy for Global Communications initiatives in support of a consistent narrative, customer experience and to build Lilly brand reputation.
Under the strategic direction of the Content Director, the Corporate Content Consultant will be responsible for managing the creation and review of long and short-form written content published on multiple corporate platforms reaching key audiences and geographies.
This position will have a specific expertise in executive writing, and will support the Content Director in creating content for Lilly’s CEO and other executives, and consulting with other executive content creators across the organization.
A skilled communicator with strong writing, editing and consulting skills -- and experience navigating the complexity of a highly matrixed structure – the Corporate Content Consultant will collaborate with colleagues across Global Communications, the Creative + Content + Channels team, and Business Unit Corporate Affairs teams to provide strategic counsel across the enterprise, identify stories and execute an enterprise-wide content plan aligned with the Lilly narrative. The Corporate Content Consultant will work closely with colleagues on the Creative and Channels teams, and help establish and enforce standards and guidelines for content across the organization.
The Corporate Content Consultant should be prepared to provide additional support as needed for Lilly Global Communications, including helping manage complex internal and external initiatives and vendors.
The position is located in Indianapolis, reporting to the Content Director.
Collaborates closely with the Creative + Content + Channel team, as well as the Global Enterprise and Reputation teams, subject matter experts and project managers to deliver work that aligns to Lilly’s objectives and drives results.
Creates long- and short-form written content for Lilly’s CEO and other executives – including speeches and digital content – and supports the Content Director in managing creation of executive content.
Consults with other executive content creators across the enterprise to provide counsel and ensure appropriate voice, tone and consistency of messages and format.
In partnership with the Creative + Content + Channels experts, drives creation of other written content aligned with Lilly’s narrative storytelling strategy, including content for Lilly.com and Lilly’s corporate social media channels.
Works across the organization to find and tell compelling stories that advance Lilly’s reputational objectives with key audiences.
Helps oversee and manage vendor relationships, execution and budgets, including contract writing services utilized by corporate affairs and others.
Consults with employees, agencies and vendors who need to understand and apply the Lilly voice consistently, and edits content to ensure appropriate Lilly voice and tone and alignment with Lilly’s editorial strategy.
In partnership with the Content Director, executes on team priorities, including the editorial strategy for the corporation, and drives operational efficiencies in the messaging/content development process to meet project and team needs.
Leads review processes for content on Lilly’s corporate channels and helps ensure Lilly communications’ quality standards as well as legal, regulatory and privacy compliance of content.
Basic Qualifications :
Minimum of 5 years of agency and/or in-house experience creating content for print, video and/or digital and social for a corporate brand.
Minimum of 5 years writing and/or editing experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, English, or a related field.
Outstanding portfolio of writing and/or video content demonstrating ability to find and tell compelling stories.
Advanced understanding of AP style and ability to edit and write for a variety of channels including social/digital, speech, video, podcast, etc. Media relations experience for a large organization.
Ability to combine business strategy, brand strategy and customer insight to create content for internal and external audiences.
Advanced understanding of corporate review processes, legal and regulatory guidelines as well as MS Office Suite, and other relevant software.
Understanding of and experience with new and established social media platforms.
Ability to interface professionally and persuasively with corporate leaders and managers and ability to negotiate solutions.
Experience working globally and externally preferred.
Demonstrated ability to apply practical or technical knowledge where no direction is given.
Strong organization and project management skills.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and deal with rapidly changing priorities and timelines.
Knowledge and understanding of key marketplace factors for pharmaceuticals, as well as critical business issues and drivers.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to think quickly, analytically to accommodate a dynamic communications environment.
Understanding of and experience with CMS and UX design principles.
Works well under pressure, responds to feedback well and keeps a positive attitude.
Some international and domestic travel expected as conditions and business need arise.
Located in Indianapolis or telecommute from other US location.
