Dematic Controls Systems Engineer-- Day Shift in Indianapolis, Indiana

Dematic is hiring for a Controls Systems Engineer to support one of Dematic's customers in Indianapolis, IN. The successful candidate will have some experience or exposure working on automated material handling solutions. This includes controls design and machine control with an understanding of warehouse control software and operational considerations. This role would be responsible for troubleshooting and implementing changes to a highly automated material handling system.This role will be working on Day shift / 10 hour shifts / 4 days on - 4 days off. Job responsbilities include:
Troubleshoot complex system issues and implement Recommends ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction
Performscomplex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design
Coordinates all controls and engineering input necessary to troubleshoot and maintain a high level of system uptime.
Maintains a complete set of project engineering records on all assignments
Understands and follows company, department and project procedures, work instructions and practices
Manage lifecycle of client issues by creating, responding, troubleshooting, communicating, and resolving product related Incidents and Problems
Install, configure, optimize and maintain OS, software and databases
Provide on-call, and on-site support when required, to resolve issues or assist with system migrations, upgrades, deployments or after hours support.
Create and maintain scripts used for troubleshooting, repair and maintenance actions
Design and contributes to SOPs, tools and knowledge base articles.
Troubleshoot java code, identify bugs, and prepare patches and hot fixes.
Maintain frequent communication with customer to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to strong customer satisfaction
Travel when required (maximum requirement of 10%)
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering
5+ years’ experience working with the application of material handling solutions
1-4 years Java development experience (or education)
1-4 years of SQL database experience (or education
Preferred Qualifications:

Flexible to adapt to same-day and next-day changes to project support
Effectively communicate and partner with teammates and colleagues
Efficient time management and organization skills
Capable of project management and handling multiple priorities
Broad knowledge of controls and software automation
Very good understanding of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of automated systems
Demonstration of previous independent project work
Understanding of the application of electrical controls
Experience programming a variety of PLC’s
J2EE foundation
Unix/Linux system administration and scripting (preferred)
MS Windows Server (2003, 2008 or 2012) administration (preferred)
Tomcat Web Servers (preferred)
Knowledge of warehouse operations a plus
