Design Engineer

Job Description:

Work day-to-day directly with the customer and team members and will be focused on speed and quality execution of deliverables to our customer. The deliverables will be an assortment of documentation related to fixed process approvals in supporting the committee chairs and production support teams.

  • Candidate needs to be familiar with aero engines / gas turbines with good amount of design experience

  • Any knowledge in manufacturing or materials engineering is a plus

  • Needs to support an existing team supporting civil and military applications

  • Will work with a small local team and needs to interface with global resources from India

  • Good technical writing skills to summarize the concession disposition to customer requirements by providing r ational technical and business justification for the fixed process changes being evaluated

  • Manage multiple engineering projects (design changes), including driving projects to completion, modeling and other customer and supplier interactions

Education, Training, and Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience with design for manufacturing

  • B.S. in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering)

  • Competent understanding of the inner workings of turbomachinery

  • Able to work in a fast-paced, learning environment to meet quick deadlines

  • Ability to read-interpret CAD based tooling, component, assembly drawings required.

  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Proficiency of the MS Office Suite with good writing skills

  • Communications skills – customer / supplier interaction

  • Following are not a requirement, but not required:

  • Experience working with Operations/Process documents, procedures, and records

  • Familiarity with high-end manufacturing equipment and processes (i.e. castings, metal cutting, turning, coatings, milling, EDM, welding, sheet metal/composite forming and joining, metal tube bending, castings, metal cutting, turning, coatings, milling, EDM, welding)

  • Knowledge of manufacturing support processes and systems (i.e. inspection, gauging, data collection, records & reporting, first article approvals)

  • Design experience with critical rotative and hot section components is a plus

  • Experience with TeamCenter
