Piezo Technologies Engineering Technician in Indianapolis, Indiana

POSITION SUMMARYThe Engineering Technician is responsible for the assembly, testing, and validation of prototype piezo-electric transducers, electro-mechanical transducers, vibration generators, and associated accessories.POSITION GUIDELINESWork effectively across all levels within the location as required to perform responsibilities.Develop good interpersonal relationships necessary for effective teamwork.Maintain professional manner/demeanor with all customers, visitors, and employees.Follow a complete and thorough process when assisting with new product designs.Understand and follow the changing developments in piezoelectric technology and transducer design technology.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESAssemble newly designed prototype transducers both mechanically and electrically.Perform functional, reliability, and environmental testing of products.Define and create performance and reliability test plans, procedures, and specifications.Perform functional, reliability, and environmental testing of products.Design, develop, assemble, and/or specify equipment, test platforms, and test fixtures for both electrical and mechanical assemblies.Perform root-cause investigations and help develop corrective actions for product failures.Test and analyze new circuits to determine gain, phase, noise or any other characteristic of the circuit.Coordinate projects and tasks with other Mechanical, Electrical, and Manufacturing Engineers to complete assignments and projects on schedule.Test and evaluate new designs using common laboratory equipment used for transducers and electrical circuits and products.Work in an organized fashion by maintaining project files and appropriate records of work.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSExperience/Background:A minimum of five to seven years of experience as an engineering technician in the medical, oil and gas, safety, automotive, aerospace, defense, or industrial markets. Skills:Proficiency with electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.)A thorough knowledge of electrical parts and material selection plus associated design processes and techniques required for product development and supportA thorough knowledge of the operation and use of instrumentation used in the evaluation and testing of vibration products, including: DVMs, Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Environmental chambers, Sensor and Shaker apparatusDemonstrated laboratory skills such as hand-soldering, SMT re-work, microscope operation, ESD-safe, plus electrical connection, operation, and testAbility to read and create electrical schematics; ability to read mechanical drawingsAbility to design, assemble, and operate custom test equipment and fixturesExcellent debugging skillsExperience with machine shop tools preferredA high degree of self-motivation, diligence, and attention to detailComfortable operating in a rapidly changing and growing organizationVery strong oral and written communication skills Education:Associates degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.ENVIRONMENTAL and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSManufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements:Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.
