Enterprise Architect Principal develops enterprise architecture models and strategies that organize and rationalize Anthem systems and information assets in order to ensure business and IT alignment. Deliverables include architecture strategy assessments, recommendations, operational business architecture, blueprints and roadmaps, reference architectures, and technology assessments. Also provides solution architecture guidance to business and IT partners and participates in architecture governance activities. Provides leadership to a team of highly technical architects.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaboratingwith Portfolio Management to provide a high-level, all-inclusive vision ofenterprise solutions and development initiatives

  • Definingkey technical initiatives that support budgets

  • Participatingin the strategy for building and maintaining the architectural runway

  • Develops and maintains an architectural blueprint andevolutionary roadmap that defines and communicates the strategic directionfor these architectures in support of business and technicalstrategies.

  • Recommends solutions and/or new technologies based uponbusiness value drivers, proven architecture principles, patterns andreturn on investment.

  • Defines the architectures required to implement largecomplex cross-functional projects.

  • Understandingand communicating strategic themes, and other key business drivers forarchitecture, to System and Solution Architects and nontechnicalstakeholders

  • Works with business units to translate businessstrategy into discrete capabilities and helps to identify technologycapability gaps in systems.

  • Establishes overall systems architecture vision andensures specific components are appropriately designed and leveraged;drives the holistic vision of Enterprise Architecture.

  • Drivingarchitectural initiatives in the Portfolio backlog system andparticipating in epic and story analysis where applicable

  • Influencingcommon modeling, design, and coding practices

  • Collaborates with IT delivery teams to ensure that theconstruction of architecture components (e.g. domain architecture,solution architecture and technical architecture) aligns with architecturestrategies.

  • Defines architecture reference documentation and helpsto enforce standards.

  • Promoting Continuous Deliveryand DevOps capabilities

  • Collectinggenerating, and analyzing innovative ideas and technologies to use acrossthe business

  • Anticipates areas where architecture standards may needto be developed that are in-line with customer, IT and industry standards.

  • Facilitatingthe reuse of code, components, and proven patterns

  • Synchronizingthe following disciplines across Solutions whenever applicable:

  • Systemand data security and quality

  • Productioninfrastructure

  • Scalability,performance, and other Nonfunctional Requirements (NFRs)

  • Explains how the roadmap maintains and delivers costeffectiveness, business value, and competitiveness.

  • Develops innovative technology approaches to solvebusiness problems and is usually sought out as an expert in this field.

  • Participates in architecture governance processesand community of practice

  • Experience presenting to an executiveaudience

  • 10 + years of experience in architecture/design inrelevant technology disciplines in the Healthcare field

  • 5 + years of experience leading a development team andproviding strategic direction

  • Knowledge of healthcare or healthcare systems a plus

  • Extremely strong written, verbal and intrapersonalskills

  • Strong communication/documentation skills required andability to work at many different levels throughout the organization.

  • Experience investigating new technologies, authoringwhite papers and delivering presentations to senior leadership

  • MS/MA degree preferred

  • 12 years of experience in information technologiespreferred

  • Cross-functional knowledge (e.g., strategy, changemanagement, business process management

  • 5+ Years of experience working with data warehouses anddata marts

  • 3-5 Years with Hadoop and building data pipelinesincluding streaming data

  • 3-5 Years of Service Orientated Architecture experience

  • 3-5 Exploratory Data Discovery/Scientist, or workingclosely with Data Science teams

  • 3-5 Yeas of Agile development experience
