The Product/R&D Finance & Strategy team at Salesforce is responsible for forecasting, planning and providing financial analysis and strategy that helps guide investment throughout the cloud portfolio. The Financial Analyst will work closely with multiple teams at Salesforce (including product/engineering leadership, provisioning and supply chain management, accounting, recruiting) to ensure purchasing and resource allocations are always in sync with the financial plan. The candidate will also be involved in performing detailed analysis to identify opportunities to mitigate expenses as well as help the business allocate budget and headcount resources to the company’s strategic initiatives.

He/she will provide financial and decision support to product/engineering leadership across Salesforce, including evaluating new long-term initiatives as well as maintaining the accuracy and rigor of short-term financial plans. The Financial Analyst will interact frequently with leadership across the firm in this role and must become a trusted thought partner both internally and to his/her business partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the FP&A function by assisting in consolidation reporting of the Product & Technology organization.

  • Build and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams to synthesize and integrate updates relating to variances relative to budget forecasts

  • Ensure that month-end reporting accurately reflects all known key information across the various expense categories

  • Develop deep understanding of sources of variability, understand causes, and implement data-driven models to aid in forecasting improvements and to help prioritize and plan investment decisions

  • Support product/engineering leadership by providing timely ad hoc reporting on critical issues

  • Provide cost transparency to business partners to help drive investment decisions

  • Become embedded with business partners across the company, establishing trust and gaining an understanding of relevant drivers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic record

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a high degree of attention to detail are essential, as is an ability to explain complex issues in an understandable way.

  • Intellectual curiosity and an unquenchable thirst for solving problems

  • Strong EQ, analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Ability to gather data, sort and analyze, and articulately present analysis and recommendations

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills are required as the Financial Analyst will work across multiple teams at the company.
