Position Overview

The Lilly Professional Apprenticeship Program is a 12-month intensive fixed duration (FDE) professional development program during which the apprentice receives a combination of formal training, on-the-job learning, and mentoring in a key functional area to be equipped to compete for a Lilly position after successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Responsibilit y Statement

The primary responsibility of the Workforce Productivity Services (WPS) IT Hardware and Accessory Testing Apprentice is to evaluate new and/or updated hardware with accessories such as headsets, monitors, and other peripherals. In addition to performing a standard series of tests, the Testing Apprentice is responsible for identify new ways to confirm business requirements are met, such as Information Security standards, automating the processes wherever possible. The apprentice may engage in troubleshooting efforts when hardware failures are reported as well as work with vendors to identify accessories that meet our technical specifications to replace those reaching end-of-life or out of warranty status. The Tester will be responsible for documentation of the tests, reporting on status and communicating to appropriate team members. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop understanding of hardware (computers andaccessories) methodology

  • Understand/ improvecurrent testing approaches

  • Build relationship with all resources to obtain/configure devices

  • Work with vendors to find solutionsfor any failures

  • Identify differences between hardware models (sameor differentmanufacturers)

Basic Qualifications


HS Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of related or professional experience. Proven experience with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Additional Skills/Preferences

Desired Experience :

  • At least 1 year of college and/or associate degree in a related field.

  • Preferred background in IT

  • Experience with shipping and logistics paperwork and documentation

  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Strong organizing/multi-tasking skills andmeticulousattention to detail

  • Learning agility and self-management skills

  • Strong research and analytical skills
