Regenstrief Institute LOINC Systems Engineer II in Indianapolis, Indiana
Regenstrief Institute, Inc. is seeking a LOINC Systems Engineer II to join our creative, intellectually stimulating, open work environment. The flagship of our work in health data standards is the Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC) vocabulary standard. Today, LOINC is being used in nearly every corner of the planet, and is now a part of national health programs in many countries, including the U.S. In fact, there are hundreds of millions of patients with billions of medical test results stored in health records around the world that are coded with LOINC. Your iPhone even has LOINC inside it.
We want to hire an individual familiar with systems development and software engineering (including but not limited to object-oriented techniques and languages, database principles and programming, and open-source methodologies). This person will have a familiarity with clinical processes and clinical terminology and will always be open to learning new technology tools as a standard practice.
This job requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree, as well as 3 years’ experience developing in .Net. Ideally, we’d like to see someone with prior medical-related experience. Experience with HL7 and FHIR would be a real plus. We know that you probably haven’t worked on something quite like this before and that you can’t get a degree in LOINCing (yet).
We use SQL server for our database and Visual Studio as our primary development tool. Our current development projects target ASP.NET core. We also maintain a suite of legacy applications written in everything from Winforms to MS Access. So we are looking for an individual with a broad background who is comfortable working with many different technologies.

Develop, implement, and oversee efficient and effective systems to increase our productivity and impact.
At the same time, help the team retain the innovative spark and high quality content development that drive Regenstrief’s unique approach to Data Standards development.
Here are some of the for which functions you’ll be responsible:
Developing and maintaining .NET applications
Working with our SQL server database.
Creating and maintaining batch process using Powershell and other tools
Creating and maintain reports using SSRS
Monitoring, testing, and troubleshooting application systems
Help with our twice yearly release of the LOINC database
Supporting our every growing user community
Balance and complete multiple tasks or projects in a timely manner
Work with project managers to ensure achievement of project goals
Other Position Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience required.
Three years of experience developing applications in a Microsoft environment is required.
Prior medical-related work experience is preferred
