Kelly Engineering is seeking a Lead Product Engineer for one of our top clients in Indianapolis, IN

Job Summary:

Support military transmission engineering programs on-site and at vendor locations. Functional work assignments will include project lead responsibilities, problem investigation, component design, redesign, and miscellaneous project engineering support. Past experience in design or development of transmissions and projects would be a plus.

  1. Knowledge of the shop floor, manufacturing processes, quality systems, and proficiency in working with each during problem resolutions.

  2. Ability to successfully complete manufacturing problem resolution including organizing, investigating, and project planning with various manufacturing and engineering groups.

  3. General transmission knowledge and ability to learn military transmission technology.

  4. Blue print interpretation and expertise, including Geometric Tolerancing.

  5. Lead Project Engineering design and test programs

  6. Preparation and presentation of engineering design and test projects.

  7. Complete engineering analysis and documentation for design change requests

  8. Assist in cost reductions activities and implement cost effective designs and systems.

    1. Analyzes design and reliability problems and initiates correct actions.
    1. Component sourcing activity support.
  9. Ability to communicate technically and independently with suppliers, government and in-house customer.

  10. Ability to successfully conduct Mechanical Design and analysis of transmission systems and components.

Skills Required:

  1. BS degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

  2. Minimum of 5 years experience required

  3. Excellence in written and spoken English required.

  4. Experience using Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel,PowerPoint. and Project) required.

  5. Interpersonal skills to work effective in a team environment required.

  6. Ability to read blueprints required.

  7. Ability to communicate technical issues to varied audiences.

  8. Targets and achieves results, sets challenging goals, prioritizes tasks, provides leadership/motivation.

  9. Ability to work overtime required.

  10. Willingness and ability to travel required. (Note: Requires availability of credit card for hotel and plan reservations.)

  11. MSME Preferred

  12. Experience in stress and fatigue life analysis preferred.

  13. Experience in failure analysis technology preferred.

  14. Unigraphics and CAD experience preferred.

  15. Experience with SAP preferred.
