Our scientists develop technical and business solutions using their deep technical expertise to speed testing of clinical hypotheses and accelerate drug development. SMDD excels in these areas by placing innovation at the heart of what we do. Our innovation engine is driven by an array of diverse talents and cultures brought together in state of the art laboratory and open concept facilities which foster collaboration and teamwork.Lilly is seeking outstanding candidates to work in the purification development group within SMDD with the primary focus being support of oligonucleotide purification. Within SMDD, we have formed a small and growing group of skilled scientists with the common goal of designing and developing improved and cutting-edge oligonucleotide process technologies to achieve a premier position in oligonucleotide development. The position presents an opportunity to work within a team environment consisting of chemists, analytical chemists, and engineers to advance the portfolio from early clinical development through commercialization.The responsibilities and opportunities for this role include:Development of purification processes for oligonucleotide drug substances.Design and execute laboratory experimentation.Generation of creative solutions for improving existing processes and the creation of novel ones.The transfer of process technical information to internal and external manufacturing sites. Provide technical oversight to external collaboration partners for laboratory and manufacturing activities.Author and maintain documentation such as laboratory notebooks and technical reports.Publish/share original research externally (peer-reviewed articles and conferences).Minimum Requirements:BS or MS degree in chemistry.Additional Skills/PreferencesDemonstrated experience and expertise in developing preparative HPLC (ion-exchange, reversed-phase, normal phase) methods for purification of drug candidates from the mg to the multi-gram or larger scale.Experience with the packing and operation of dynamic axial compression preparative HPLC columns.Experience in the operation of commercial preparative chromatography equipment.Expertise in analytical HPLC method development.Expertise in LC-MS analysis related to the characterization of process related impurities and work collaboratively with process chemists to identify and minimize the formation of the impurities.Expertise in development of purification related processes such as tangential flow filtration, nano filtration, lyophilization, and precipitation.Good communication skills and demonstrated collaborative abilities (internally and externally).The ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects, update and communicate progress, and propose changes in project timelines, objectives, or scope when needed.Additional InformationLocation: Indianapolis, IN.Travel 0 to 10%.Eli Lilly and Company, Lilly USA, LLC and our wholly owned subsidiaries (collectively Lilly) are committed to hel
