Come join Microsoft Quantum Lab Purdue located in West Lafayette, Indiana and be hands-on for the coming revolution in quantum computing! We are part of an international team of scientists, mathematicians, and engineers who are designing, growing, fabricating, and characterizing the components for a topological quantum computer based on Majorana zero modes. We are seeking a results-oriented and communicative PhD level condensed matter experimental physicist or electrical engineer with experience in cryogenics, semiconductors, and superconductors.
Work with an international team of researchers to characterize hybrid materials that will form the basis of topological qubits.
Work iteratively with fabrication and materials growth teams to screen and improve sample quality.
Carry out low-noise DC and RF measurements from millikelvin to room temperature.
Develop measurement protocols and techniques to produce consistent measurements/analyses across materials, locations, and time.
PhD in experimental condensed matter physics, or related field, focusing on low-dimensional semiconductors, superconductivity, or qubit/quantum sensing measurement.
3+ years’ experience in semiconductor device physics and superconductivity.
2+years’ experience with one or more of the following: low-noise electronic measurement, cryogenic techniques (He3, dilution refrigerator), electrical transport characterization (for semiconductors, dielectrics, and superconductors).
2+years’ experience with data acquisition and programming in a high-level language (python, mat lab).
Experience in developing code in a version-controlled environment (git,svn).
Microwave electronics experience.
Good communication and data management skills.
Ability to operate and maintain a dilution refrigerator.
Previous experience in mesoscopic device fabrication.
