Allied Reliability Group Reliability Maintenance Engineer in Indianapolis, Indiana
Allied Reliability is currently seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer for a large food & beverage client based in the Indianapolis, IN area. This individual will be helping drive instrumental change to create a best-in-class maintenance & reliability program and managing cross-functional teams across projects of varying scope.
Comply with all plant safety policies, guidelines, standards and requirements including active participation in plant safety meetings, completion of all required safety tasks and ensuring safe work practices for self and others.
Comply with all plant regulatory, ISO, Quality, Food Safety systems, GMP policies, guidelines, standards and requirements.
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the equipment/process in order to effectively repair equipment and assist/recommend operational and mechanical improvements.
Professionally and systematically define, design, develop, monitor and refine an Asset Maintenance Plan that includes: Value-added preventive maintenance tasks with a focus on lubrication practices, effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies, and change management.
Develop maintenance strategy for critical and key operational assets to ensure plants run reliably at desired output for minimum life cycle costs.
Establish KPI system to monitor and identify improvement opportunities in the area of facility reliability and asset utilization.
Provide input to a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability related risks that could adversely impact plant operations and develop solutions to eliminate or minimize risks.
Optimize use of the CMMS (SAP-PM) for maintenance and material management.
Develop internal and external resources and capabilities to drive the improvement of the reliability of equipment and systems that support meeting the facility’s safety, quality, cost and production goals.
Collaborate with facility management to identify and prioritize reliability improvement opportunities and define plans to implement actions.
Ensure that plant maintenance activities are focused and well-coordinated in order to drive for value added activities through the reduction of non-value added time.
Promote world class reliability centered maintenance results by driving continuous improvement through formal root cause analysis, standard work development, and predictive maintenance methodologies.
Develop systems for proactive identification of asset performance issues and perform statistical analysis on equipment failure data (FRACAS) to resolve reliability issues identified in design or manufacturing, and support execution of corrective actions.
Participate with North America Reliability continuous improvement team to establish annual improvement targets and sharing of best practices across the network of facilities.
Utilize statistical data to find repeat failure modes in critical equipment to help drive better availability in equipment.
Ensure that predictive tools are being utilized and trended to help understand cycle life and shifts in equipment performance.
Utilize knowledge gained through direct conversation, research and down time to modify and update preventative maintenance tasks that are focused on improving availability and quality of product.
Work with technicians, planners, supervisors and manufacturing to investigate equipment issues and develop actions to permanently remove failure modes through reengineering, replacement, or observation strategies.
Develop comprehensive and automated plant maintenance KPI (Key Performance Indicators) protocol and align metrics with overall plant safety, cost, and production goals.
Be a leader in improving quality performance, emphasizing involvement of suppliers of maintenance supplies and services in meeting plant expectations for GMP and reliability.
Manage all assigned direct reports as required to achieve company performance as mandated.
Work with operations and project engineering to achieve goals for reliability and maintainability of existing, new and modified assets.
Prepare and facilitate idea generation workshops with the North America Reliability CI team and with individual facility personnel and teams.
Support facility in the proper application of reliability centered concepts and the implementation of systems that support a best in class Asset Management Plan.
Provide ongoing mentorship to facility personnel to ensure growth of skill sets, sustained project delivery, and leverage of successes across facilities.
Collaborate across business and functional units in the region to ensure alignment of improvement initiative.
Recommend vendors/contractors for the procurement of materials, equipment, supplies and/or contracting specialized technical services to improve reliability/efficiency.
Drive customer focus by soliciting feedback from plant personnel and communicate the satisfaction level while providing recommendations for improvement.
Partner with shift coordinators, planners, other business unit leads to establish a consistent work order processing systems in order to prioritize and schedule repair work based on reliability and cost impact.
Partner with Procurement to manage store room and tool crib activities, establishing goals to improve overall maintenance effectiveness in terms of cost, reliability, and equipment up-time.
Lead the maintenance organization in proactive improvement of equipment availability and maintenance efficiency; work with units to continually develop and share best practices.
Interface and assist various departments with the identification of materials required for projects; provide technical guidance to support timely procurement and execution of project activities.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical and/or mechanical discipline and 3 years minimum of professional experience in Maintenance and/or engineering working with maintenance, equipment and reliability related process improvement initiatives.
Certification or 5 years of experience in predictive technologies such as infrared, vibration, and/or ultra-sonics.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing reliability centered systems and procedures in a complex manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated strong Knowledge and experience implementing Predictive technologies systems, routines, vibration analysis, Infrared thermography, Oil analysis.
PMO - Preventive Maintenance Optimization & RCFA strong knowledge and ability to lead those strategies.
Ability to develop and communicate a compelling vision and future state of manufacturing that utilizes reliability centered practices.
Certified maintenance and reliability professional preferred.
Lean Six Sigma belt certification or willingness to obtain certification within one year; Green belt required, Black Belt preferred.
Demonstrated understanding of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Autonomous Maintenance and other improvement methodologies.
Demonstrated knowledge of SAP, Microsoft products and other computer programs.
Must have strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills with the ability to interact effectively within all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to concisely communicate objectives and results to reach targeted goals.
Capacity to solve problems through creative, innovative solutions and challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks.
Ability to give clear and concise presentations and conduct effective meetings.
Ability to build consensus and foster positive relationships.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with all functional groups within the organization.
Provide direction to local and contractor instrument/electrical staff to perform prioritized high quality work in a timely and safe manner. Work with local planner to effectively communicate with operations, engineering and maintenance to develop a schedule for upcoming work, insuring adequate resources are available – parts, people, and equipment.
Capable of developing and performing preventive maintenance/safety inspections and effectively communicate/document findings.
High level of understanding of electrical motors including maintenance, field wiring, alignment, rotation checks, and starter components.
High level of understanding of flow diagrams, equipment vendor drawings, ladder diagrams, simple control circuits and the ability to troubleshoot the systems involved.
High level of understanding of the function and calibration of field instrumentation, including flow meters, temperature probes, pH meters, density meters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, and other field devices.
Must be able to, but not limited to: lift up to 55lbs, climb a ladder, work at heights, wear a respirator, work within confined spaces, follow LOTO/MESI and other safety programs.
Conduct analyses of usage rates and equipment criticality to support a comprehensive parts inventory management plan.
