The Discovery Chemistry Research and Technologies (DCRT) organization within Lilly Research Labs is a small molecule drug discovery organization spanning from target identification to candidate selection for clinical studies. The Computational Chemistry and Cheminformatics (C3) group in DCRT is looking to grow its diverse team with a cheminformatics scientist. This team is involved in the transformation and further development of the Eli Lilly cheminformatics platform growing capabilities in de novo design, predictive modeling, reaction informatics, artificial intelligence and data mining. You will be expected to have proven expertise in the cheminformatics field and sharp technical skills (such as programming, algorithms, data curation and pipelining). Basic Qualifications :
Ph.D. in Computer Sciences, Cheminformatics, Computational Chemistry, Bioinformatics or related field or
M.S. degree in above fields with 8 years of relevant experience
Some key responsibilities:
Develop scientific software for large scale computational chemistry and cheminformatics tasks.
Apply cheminformatic and computational chemistry tools to advance pharmaceutical projects.
Assess emerging computational chemistry/cheminformatics methodologies using public and proprietary data and contribute to the scientific development direction for the group.
Contribute in the development of desktop applications for medicinal chemists by developing back-end/middle layer capabilities and key components of user interface.
Implementation, deployment and maintenance of software tools and applications in a global, multisite Linux environment.
Assess and improve existing tools, documentation and regression tests
Perform maintenance, QC and regression testing of software in Python, Perl, C++, bash; monitor software performance via test suites.
Additional Skills/Preferences :
Two or more years of academic or industrial experience working in a highly collaborative team.
Algorithm development and complex problem-solving skills.
Extensive experience in scripting or programming languages such as Python, Perl, or C/C++.
Hands on experience with at least one major cheminformatics toolkit and artificial intelligence/machine learning platform (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
Working experience in use of issue tracking tools, source control, and build management.
Experience in web services (REST and SOAP) and relational data modeling and database design will be considered an advantage.
Strong oral and written communication skills combined with organizational and leadership capabilities.
