H.W. Kaufman Group Risk Services Safety Specialist in Indianapolis, Indiana
Due to the rapid expansion and growth of our services and products at AFIRM, the Risk Services Division has immediate and ongoing needs for highly experienced independent contractor specialists in Safety, Loss Prevention, Risk Control, and Fire Protection.
The industries we serve are broad and varied, including:
Manufacturing
Construction
Healthcare
Agriculture
Non-profits
Contractors
Fleet Operators
Warehouse
Broker Programs
Pharmaceutical/Nutriceutical and many more
Insurance-based inspection work is the underlying foundation however, most projects are consultative in nature leading to a better understanding of risk and focus on reduction of exposures leading to fewer accidents, injuries, losses and claims.
Progressive career advancement and technical skills through continuing education, and/or a BS, and/or a MS and/or equivalent are required. Professional designations of CIH, CSP, ASP, PE, OHST, ARM, ALCM, CFPS are highly desirable but not a requirement.
Viable candidates should have a strong working knowledge and proven success in application of skills in one or more of the following:
Hazard Analysis and Consulting
HPR/large property, Business Interruption
Construction related operations
Workplace Safety, Worker's Compensation, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene
Commercial Fleet Operations
General Liability, Products Liability, Life Safety
Environmental Assessments
Safety Training
Additional Helpful Criteria:
OSHA 10/30 hr. 500/501 certified instructor and presentation skills are desirable
Certified in various areas of your state of domicile (NY CR59, AR FSR, PA Certified Safety and or Workplace Safety Committee trainee).
MSHA certified trainers or card carrier candidates are also welcome to apply as we do have mining risks to service.
These positions require:
a consultative and client service approach
self-management, personal drive, and pride in your work
ability to write clear, concise, yet comprehensive reports
computer skills including use of typical office software packages
ability to operate a vehicle, attend at customer sites, traverse fixed ladders
some overnight travel when needed.
These are excellent opportunities for those with 7, 10, 20+ years of direct experience, recently retired insurance safety professionals, independent safety professionals or experienced self-employed insurance loss control consultants.
