VMware Senior Application Developer - Salesforce - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Indianapolis, Indiana

The Chief Digital Transformation Office (CDTO) offers an opportunity to shape and drive VMware’s Digital Transformation to enable Operations to scale and support VMware’s growth.

We are part of GCA engineering team responsible for accelerating digital transformation of Vmware’s GTM, Customer experience businesses by providing technical leadership to implementing scalable technical solutions for the critical business initiatives.

We are on an initiative to help expand Vmware’s GTM business by providing appropriate tools that will lay foundation for SAAS offerings thereby improving the business process efficiency and effectiveness.

This Senior Application Developer position provides a unique opportunity to grow your career by deepening your product engineering expertise and providing requirement design opportunities. You will have opportunities to participate in requirement design discussions with product owners, by presenting data and valuable points of consideration to resolve problems that may impede a successful quote to Order process. This implementation experience is critical for anyone with a passion in product engineering looking to broaden their technical acumen.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • Within 30 days of employment, become competent with VMware’s CPQ process and implementation.

  • Within 60 days of employment, implementing technical solutions using industry best practices and Contribute to developing product for the custom CPQ implementation on

  • You will work closely with architects and product owners to design and implement right level of non-functional needs such as quality, scalability, performance, flexibility, modularity, maintainability etc.

  • Develop prototypes for new foundational product capabilities.

  • Research capabilities, new features as needed to suit business requirements

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

Your regular activities may be modified to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments:

  • Review and analyze business requirements and provide feedback to product owners inline with the product vision.

  • Document design and work with the salesforce developers, integration teams, downstream system teams to implement technical solution using

  • Partner closely with QA team during the build, test and UAT cycle to ensure build quality.

  • Collaborate with devops and release management team to promote the build to production.

  • Post-production support.

  • This implementation will involve high expertize and hands-on coding in Apex programming, lightning (aura framework and LWC), Java scripts, APIs development and integration.

  • This role will also be responsible for performance investigation and improvements which will include tracing and debugging using various tools (like event monitoring) and browser tools.

  • Expert of software development life-cycle involving implementations

  • Expert of SDLC processes and tools, Iterative Design & Prototyping (Agile)

  • Must have experience preparing technical specifications, detailed design documents and developing test cases

  • Solid understanding of CRM/PRM capabilities and functional areas

  • Experienced in development methodologies and software delivery lifecycle

You will be joining the GCA engineering team responsible for accelerating digital transformation of Vmware’s GTM, Customer experience businesses by providing technical leadership to implementing scalable technical solutions for the critical business initiatives. The global team is spread throughout VMware offices including Palo Alto, CA, Austin, TX, Bangalore, IN.

This role will be reporting to the Manager, R&D who is responsible for salesforce Center Of Excellence and drives technical side of transformational business programs on The team structure is flat with access to all the leaders and their teams. We expect you to take advantage of this diverse work culture to develop yourself into a senior technical member who will execute future state technical vision with end to end ownership.
