Premier Power Maintenance Senior Protection and Control Commissioning Specialist in Indianapolis, Indiana

Job Summary:Senior Protection and Control Commissioning Specialist in this division are home based and report directly to the job sites. We have long term project work in Indiana, Iowa and throughout the Midwest.
Senior Protection and Control Commissioning Specialist Job Description:
Plans and carries out commissioning of Transmission and Distribution substation protection and control systems to include; Test and calibrate electro-mechanical and microprocessor based relays. Alarm relays, line, bus differential, and transformer protection relays, and control/breaker failure relays.
Set up and test communication and networking equipment such as ethernet switches, power line carrier systems, SCADA systems and RTU's.
Plans and coordinates outage activities,
Analyzes results of testing and provides guidance on how to interpret results of testing to less experienced testing technicians
Verifies construction and wiring is complete to design standards,
Performs functional checks of all protection and control circuits and systems
Provides leadership and technical support for other substation and industrial switchgear projects performed by the company
Runs 2 or more projects simultaneously

Required Experience, Skills, and Education for Senior Protection and Control Commissioning Specialist:
2 year technical degree or equivalent military training
The requirement for formal training can be waived if an individual has shown the initiative to educate his or herself and is able to demonstrate a solid understanding of Ohms Law, Kirchoffs Current Laws, Series and Parallel DC Circuits, Series and Parallel AC Circuits, Reactive Circuits, Resonant Circuits, and Power Factor
NETA or NICET Level 4 or NETA or NICET 3 with at least 10 years of P&C related experience
Has performed as a lead or project manager on at least one testing and maintenance project
Has at least 2 years of experience testing transformers, breakers, and other electrical apparatus
Has demonstrated the ability to be consistently on time for daily work assignments, meetings, training, etc….
Demonstrates organizational skills to include on time reporting of time and expenses, weekly status reports, and any other documentation and reporting requirements
Demonstrates the responsibility required to keep tools, test equipment, and vehicles in clean and organized condition and up to date with service and calibrations
Work Environment:
Must be willing and able to work regular overtime, including nights, weekends, and some holidays
Must be willing and able to travel on overnight, multi-day, out-of-town jobs
Must be willing and capable of working with your hands and working in the field
Other Requirements for Senior Protection and Control Commissioning Specialist:
Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle check
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, as well as periodic, unannounced random testing
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be willing to obtain a company paid TWIC card, OSHA 30 hour, NFPA 70-E, and CPR training
