Are you a software engineer who desires to work in a collaborative team environment to design and develop new products that will change the world?

Beckman Coulter Life Sciences’ R&D is growing and needs intelligent, hardworking software engineers to join our team. You will apply modern development methodologies and new software technologies to create world class products. You will work with multi-functional engineering teams to develop new products and sustain existing product lines. You will leverage user-centered design tools to produce products that delight our customers. You will mentor and be mentored by your team members.

  • Gain experience with a broad range of software technologies and the ability to make technical choices objectively

  • Build relationships with peers across the business and use these relationships to drive innovation.

  • Actively track developments in the software community and incorporate them where appropriate

  • Provide recommendations to the organization for planning and technology

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop full stack software in a collaborative team environment.

  • Participate in all phases of new software development, including requirement specification, design, implementation, software integration, testing, and documentation required to meet company procedures.

  • Mentor junior software developers.

  • Execute quality assurance activities such as risk analysis, software deliverable technical reviews, and code inspections.

  • Recommend or implement software development tools.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial software development.

  • Willingness to work with a broad set of software platforms such as .NET, Angular/React, cloud technologies, and learn new programming languages such as Scheme and Delphi

  • Demonstrated experience of grasping new concepts quickly, learning new skills, and most importantly applying those new skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate software and system design

  • Demonstrated analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using web technologies (e.g. JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, frameworks such as Angular or React)

  • Understanding of functional programming (e.g. Scheme, F#)

  • Software development experience in the life sciences domain.

  • Experience in the development of medical devices and working knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulation.

  • Experience working on projects that involve both software and hardware components.

  • Modern software development methodologies including Agile and Scrum

  • Ability to work with customers to understand their needs and translate them into successful solutions

  • Understanding of Localization and Internationalization

  • Automated testing and automated software delivery pipelines

  • Continuous Integration experience

  • Focus on optimizing time to market while increasing quality
