Covance Sr Software Architect in Indianapolis, Indiana

As a member of the Informatics team, you will play a key role developing effective, efficient, and elegant ETL algorithms to meet the diverse and flexible needs of data analysis in the clinical R&D process. Your technical understanding and strong communication skills will enable you to communicate with key customers how our implementation will improve their business processes. Your technical expertise will contribute to the evaluation of implementation options that deliver critical impact with optimized performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design and development of information flow from business processes and source systems into ETL workflows for data warehouses that support Covance’s Xcellerate platform.

  • Coordinating multiple ETL workflows and data load processes and monitoring systems performance, including on-going optimization and tuning.

  • Analyzing and evaluating data sources, data volume, and business rules.

  • Collaborate with diverse team across business engagement, architecture, testing, and support.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide documentation of code designs and develop unit and integration testing in alignment with functional specifications.

  • Participate in the full development cycle from product inception, research and prototyping to release in production.

  • Demonstrate ability to develop a high degree of autonomy in performing the tasks outlined above.

Education:

BS/MS in computer science, information systems, life sciences, or related discipline.

Required:

  • Minimum 7 years of data warehousing and data integration experience in complex business environments

  • Demonstrated experience in designing ETL processes for high-volume, complex data environments using Informatica, BODS, or similar.

  • Demonstrated experience of relational and dimensional database models, including logical and physical design using SQL Server, Oracle, or similar.

  • Strong knowledge of database programming using T-SQL, PL/SQL, or similar.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and query performance tuning.

  • Knowledge and experience in cloud deployments on AWS, Azure, or similar.

  • Knowledge and experience of REST API calls, json schemas and parsing, and xml schemas and parsing.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in healthcare or life sciences

  • Programming skills in C#, Java, JavaScript, or related languages

  • Experience with 21CFR Part 11 software validation

  • Experience with master data management approaches, tools and design patterns.
