We are currently seeking a Practice Leader to refine and implement our national growth strategy to provide Water Services across the firm out of our Indianapolis office.
With the majority of the firm’s water professionals being based in Indianapolis, we are currently working on challenging projects from Minneapolis to Miami and Los Angeles to New York City with nothing but more opportunities to grow the practice in the future.

Responsible for direction and supervision of a multiple professional or technical groups. Directs project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments to ensure clients are provided the best design capabilities to meet their needs. Responsible for efficient, productive utilization of staff in providing high-quality service.
Actively manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation.
Implements and executes the firm’s Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SSA, SCA, SDA).
Establishes priorities and work schedules and coordinates resource needs/assignments.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
Responsible for the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, evaluation and termination of department staff members.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Works to develop technical strategies and procedures. Monitors and develops appropriate professional standards and integrates the plans and metrics for quality assurance through all phases of project delivery.
Works to enhance and increase the revenue base of the water/wastewater practice. Collaborates with and supports the Office Leader and other Market Sector Leaders in accomplishing their sales and performance goals. Assists in setting sales goals for the water/wastewater practice and assists in developing and implementing a strategic plan to include identifying market opportunities to achieve sales goals.
Will be responsible for oversight and supervision of personnel resources within the water practice including monitoring recruiting and retaining all water staff. The Practice Leader will be responsible for all HR actions including making recommendations to the Office Management Team regarding adding or decreasing staff based upon detailed input and review of labor projections. Strives to ensure appropriate staff and other specific resources are available for support of core practice work opportunities. Responsible to Office Management Team for strategic and operational performance of the water practice.
Leads staff on multiple projects in the water practice. Provides technical direction and supervision of projects and staff.
Assures that the technical, administrative, work hour and schedule targets are met within the framework of established policy and in accordance with the applicable professional standards, design control procedures, and design guidelines.
Works to enhance communication, coordination and cooperation of all water practitioners to work as a cohesive unit.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
16 years relevant experience
4 years supervisory experience
Experience working with municipal clients
Background in Drinking Water, Wastewater and/or Water Resources
General Work Conditions
Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
