VMware Web Designer - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Indianapolis, Indiana

The VMware Employment Brand team is seeking a Web Designer to build, manage, and evolve the web design content for the VMware Careers Site (https://careers.vmware.com/main/) and VMware’s recruiting microsites. This is a twelve-month, remote contract position based in the United States or Canada.

The Vision for the Role: What is the primary need, technical challenge, or most significant problem that you will be responsible for in this role?

We need someone with website design and coding experience to maintain and build out new content on the VMware Careers Site (https://careers.vmware.com/main/) and VMware’s recruiting microsites. You will need to work with the web developer(s) at iCIMS (VMware’s career site vendor) and Beamery (VMware’s talent community vendor), as well as our job board/tool account managers to develop and maintain website content that supports VMware’s recruitment marketing strategy. The work is exciting, unique, and complex because you will be partnering with multiple teams – both inside and outside of VMware - around the world.

Success in this Role: What are the performance goals that you will work towards completing?

  • Work with the Talent Acquisition team to audit and update the web design content on VMware’s recruiting microsites

  • Field and build out web pages to support our general hiring and recruiting events

  • Within the first six months of coming into this role, you will build and present a website design refresh project proposal for the VMware Careers Site

  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team to audit the accessibility of the VMware Careers Site and propose a project plan to enhance the user experience for all people visiting the VMware Careers Site within the first year in the role

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments or requirements will you be performing on a regular basis? What are your deliverables?

  • Most of your time will be spent designing (with Adobe and coding (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) applications) content for webpages

  • Some of your time will be spent writing and providing copy edit suggestions

  • Spend time learning about VMware’s business and hiring priorities

  • Evolve VMware’s employment brand and recruiting web design strategy

  • Grow your graphic design, coding, website design, and copywriting professional skills. We want you to be curious, learning both from team member and individual study.

  • Collaborate virtually through Microsoft Teams, Zoom, iCIMS project dashboard, Beamery, and our project management application to complete work

The Hiring Manager: Who is the hiring manager? What is their background and management style? What is the structure of the team/organization that you will be working with?

The hiring manager for this role is Price Peacock, Global Employment Brand Manager, VMware. Her expertise has been built from the front lines, with roles in social media management, project/program management, and most recently, in management of the global Employment Brand team.

Price’s management philosophy is about encouraging everyone on the team to identify how their strengths and passions can support their work and achieve the team’s goals. Price looks for people who see the value of collaborating with people across roles, job levels, perspectives, and locations. She needs someone who recognizes the importance of taking the time to check work, connect ideas and people together, and takes the initiative to bring an outcome to life without direct supervision all the time.

The core team is made up of two social media managers, a graphic designer, a talent marketing specialist, and Price. They’re closely connected with the Talent Acquisition Experience (TAx) team and the broader Talent Acquisition team. The team works in a distributed manner, with people living and working across the AMER, EMEA, and APJ regions.
