KTR Corporation Application Engineer (Manufacturing) in Michigan City, Indiana

Job SummaryInteract directly with customers while also supporting Customer Service and the Outside Sales Team with product selection, interchanges or identification within the guidelines set in the catalog and/or Product Manager provided toolset. Initiate requests for product deviations and price. Provide the company with engineering related services and/or coordinating the execution of engineering initiatives. Good communication, mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial applications are essential.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide catalog application information to customers, Customer Service, and Outside Sales Team.Investigate and address customers technical inquiries: identification of competitor cross-overs, selection of proper size coupling/accessory type, and provide part number, formal description and/or drawings when available.Assist in finding solutions to the customer needs and help work through technical difficulties.Listen, understand and convey customer requirements. Identify standard modification vs engineer to order and collect application details to assist in selection and design.Provide price, lead-time and initiate requests for product deviations.Generate, approve, and release drawings.Provide drawing and engineering services to other KTR departments as needed.Provide technical comparison between competitive products and assist in other engineering calculations such as: TVA, stress calculations, and transmittable torque.Follow and adhere to all KTR policies and procedures.All other duties assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMaintain expert level of product knowledge and applications.Basic understanding of manufacturing / operations practices.Knowledge of industrial standards AGMA, API, ISO, SAE, etcKnowledge of engineering mechanical drawings practices, including geometric dimensioning.Ability to properly use precision measurement tools and basic hand tools.Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.Ability to function within business operational tools SAP.Strong written/verbal communication skills.Work collaboratively as a team member.Understanding or Ability to operate 3-D CAD system Creo.Strong familiarity with KTR operating procedures.Credentials and ExperienceAssociate degree in Engineering discipline with 5 years engineering/technical experience, orBS Mechanical Technology (BSMT) with 2 years engineering technical experience, orBS Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with 2 years engineering technical experience, and2-4 years CAD/Drafting with experience using solid modeling preferredBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceDisability insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offTuition reimbursementVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftDay shiftMonday to FridayCOVID-19 Precaution(s):Remote interview processSocial distancing guidelines in placeVirtual meetingsSanitizing, disinfecting, or cleaning procedures in place
