The Sr. Implementation Consultant will assist in the planning, organising and implementation of multiple complex technical projects involving several system integration points and Client specific development. The position requires the implementer to take projects from original concept through final implementation and is responsible for working on project teams and assigning individual responsibilities in addition to providing technical and analytical guidance.

A selection of primary responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that projects meet the business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.

  • Reviewing and analysng existing application effectiveness and efficiency and recommend improvements.

  • Ensuring that any software systems being integrated meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.

  • Collaborating with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications.

  • Cultivating, disseminating, and enforcing functional policies, procedures, and quality assurance best practices.

  • Writing specifications for programs of low to moderate complexity.

  • Developing test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs.

  • Remaining abreast of industry technical trends and new development to maintain current skills and remain current with industry standards.

  • Participating in design and discovery sessions and lead project planning sessions with clients and evaluate the product lifecycle with respect to equipment, functionality, installation and post-production support.

  • Promoting the advantages of Fortna’s customized product suite while supporting the efforts of the Sales team.

  • Working closely with the Software team to develop software platforms/applications based on Client’s needs.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, information technology or related field

  • Knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards, including TCP/IP, FTP, SOA.

  • Knowledge of database design and file management techniques

  • Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Linux, Microsoft Windows

  • Professional experience in Material Handling Systems and/or Warehouse Execution Systems (WES)

  • Hands-on experience with implementation of supply chain systems or equivalent

  • Experience working with Software Development Life-cycle (SDLC) methodologies

  • Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies

  • In-depth knowledge of IT solution planning and management

  • Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc.

  • Excellent client-facing, teamwork, and communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years’ experience with JSE/JEE technologies including Swing, Applets

  • 2+ years’ experience in application server implementation

  • Proficiency in diagnosing transactions in J2EE and C++ environments

  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
