Design Engineer

job summary:

A Design Engineer is needed for a global power leader in the Seymour, IN area. This position will provide design assistance for moderately complex engineering assignments including products, parts, components, or portions of major projects. The technical skills include the ability to make sketches and engineering drawings and have experience using computer applications related to the engineering field.

work hours: 8am to 5pm

responsibilities:

  • Sketch outline designs and use computer-aided design for detailed design, generating parts lists and specifications

  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas

  • Consult with the marketing department about upgrading the product, failures in service and reducing the cost

  • Consult with the development engineers about new products and the application of novel technology

  • Consider various factors of engineering drawings or diagrams, including use of the product, its environment, materials, the economics of production, safety, legal requirements, quality, production requirements, cost and ease of maintenance

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering required

  • 2-7 years experience required Responsibility level

  • Exercises independent judgment with direction from supervisor

Skills:

  • Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability (Required)

  • Team player and detail oriented (Required)

  • Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations (Typically required)

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports (Typically required)

  • Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) (Typically required)
