Hi-Tec Systems is searching foraPrincipal Meteorological focused Aviation Analyst.

The qualified candidate will perform the following:

  • Technical support for aviation meteorology industry technology activities and

operational research to ascertain what meteorology information / technologies are

suitable for research / feasibility studies to support NextGen Operational

Improvements (OIs) and current concepts;

  • Collect, analyze, report, and disseminate information on aviation meteorology

datalink regulatory issues and policies relating to avionics and cockpit meteorology

information systems;

  • Collect meteorology efficiency and safety resources (e.g. reports, safety inputs,

weather data, et al) from aviation associations and organizations (e.g.: FAA Flight

Safety, General Aviation Joint Steering Committee, Commercial Aviation Safety Team, National Transportation Safety Board, AOPA, and Airlines for America, et al)

and analyze this information to identify gaps in meteorological information to

mitigate root cause(s) of events and report the gaps and mitigations to the FAA;

  • Develop and maintain project schedules and apprise the PMO proactively of

upcoming milestones and events to enable the FAA to complete milestones and

events on time;

  • Provide meteorological subject matter expertise, as applied to avionics and other

aircraft systems, to prepare for, participate in, and document outcomes from

meetings, conferences, work groups, program reviews, forums, senior level status

reviews, and team building exercises. Provide all meeting materials at least five (5)

business days prior to the scheduled meeting. Record meeting results, recommend

and track action items, and prepare and deliver meeting minutes including action

items, issues, resolutions or specific FAA instructions no later than 5 business days

after the meeting to the PMO for use in future decision making and planning;

  • Use and maintain data currency of a WTIC Program research tracking and database

tool for data collection, FAA decision making, report dissemination, and project

planning;

  • Track research projects to analyze whether the risk that any of the research projects

is veering away from stated objectives is coming to fruition. Apprise the PMO

immediately via verbal communication methods, with follow up formal

documentation, of such an assessment, to enable the FAA to take corrective actions.

Track PMO-determined cost, schedule, technical performance, and sustainability

research project risks, document mitigation actions for all risks, and resolutions of

realized risks, and submit to the FAA for use in risk management; and

  • Provide meteorological subject matter expertise, as applied to avionics and other

aircraft systems, for preparation of and technical/editorial input to project memos,

presentations, handouts, status charts, position papers, technical and program

reports, briefings, test plans and reports, and associated documentation in

accordance with FAA Order 1000.36, "FAA Writing Standards."

When directed the candidate must perform the following work:

  • Provide meteorological subject matter expertise, as applied to avionics and other

aircraft systems, to support development and/or improvements to a WTIC Program

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, math, and science

  • At least 15 years experience
