WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

High quality patient care depends on many factors, not the least of which is proper use of equipment, personnel and treatment techniques. Our Administrative Director of Clinical Engineering is responsible for providing leadership in the development and management of Clinical Engineering activities. Maintaining budgets, making decisions regarding internal and external services, and incorporating best practices to fulfill continuous improvement opportunities are all key responsibilities in this important position.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Implement a Clinical Engineering organizational structure and program designed to deliver medical equipment service and support in alignment with the strategic direction of the organization, following the organizational policies and procedures, to assure high quality service and cost effective management of all Clinical Engineering activities.

  • Mentor, coach, lead and manage the employees of the Clinical Engineering department in a way that reflects the Franciscan mission and values.

  • Oversee the activities of employees and information within the medical equipment database to assure timely, accurate and complete service documentation and inventory management.

  • Take action to appropriately respond to any customer concerns, patient incidents, recalls, regulatory findings or other urgent situation that may arise within the daily activities of the Clinical Engineering team.

  • Collaborate with organizational leaders to develop and support multi-year strategies related to medical equipment (selection, installation, ongoing cyber security, technical support and disposal) then lead project management solutions for new technology to improve patient outcomes.

  • Prepare, present and/or route presentations, reports and documents to support the function of the Clinical Engineering department and perform related administrative activities.

  • Develop and adhere to an appropriate department budget plan to assure opportunities for staff education and professional development while also focusing on an optimal service cost ratio for medical equipment support.

  • Participate in relevant professional activities to stay informed about changes in healthcare technology, regulatory requirements and other external factors that may affect the activities of the Clinical Engineering department.

  • Serve as a central point of contact for the Clinical Engineering department during emergency situations, to relay messages and track activities of team members.

WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED

  • Analyze and synthesize complex quantitative information.

  • Coordinate teams and delegate work.

  • Knowledge of the Association for Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards.

  • Familiarity with a wide variety of medical devices and systems.

  • Knowledge of local and national public safety and regulatory issues.

  • Supervisory and team leadership skills, including coaching, engaging and developing employees.

  • Strong communication skills.
